HE FUCKING BRANDED HER and her concern was thinking "it annoyed him" for her to have his brand on her versus the fact that he branded her when they had no emotional bond or relationship whatsoever. Her overtly hinting that she wasnt rejected him because it's what she wanted but because "hed just get tired of her and she couldn't blame him".
I definitely wanted him to crack her, but not in the way it happened. This could have been an awesome story with a few tweaks. Then the lead protagonist went from being strong and independent, basing her decisions on her own happiness to being reduced to a scared insecure girl. I thought I finally found a PNR with a legitimately strong female character. It's infuriating when a good story is performed by an awful narrator. She detracted from the story and I was extremely disappointed to see that she narrates the entire series.
